WHAT IS AN ECLIPSE?
An eclipse happens when the Sun, the Earth and the Moon line up closely enough for one to block another's light. A solar eclipse falls on a new moon and a lunar eclipse on a full moon; both arrive a few times a year, usually in pairs.
