THE CARD'S SCENE

The fourteenth card, Temperance, shows a wingless, glowing figure with one foot in the water and the other on rocky ground. A halo of stars surrounds their head, and above it shimmers a triangle set inside a circle. Between the two cups held in their hands, the light does not flow in a straight line but curls into the shape of infinity, one side glowing white, the other purple. The sign of Sagittarius on their chest represents the soul's sacred bond with the material world. The water before their feet stretches out toward a shimmering light on the horizon. The card speaks to the art of finding inner peace within life's complexity, and of uniting opposites through a kind of alchemy. It is a stop that underscores the importance of patience and moderation for spiritual growth.

REVERSED

When reversed, Temperance suggests a temporary state of imbalance or excess. You may be feeling out of sync or overextending yourself in one area of life. View this as a gentle invitation to realign your priorities and practice self-care. It is an opportunity to identify where you are rushing and to consciously slow down. Re-centering your energy will help you regain your natural rhythm and inner peace.

SYMBOLISM

That one foot rests in the water and the other on the ground symbolizes the bridge between the subconscious and reality. The light flowing between the two cups in the shape of infinity represents the ceaseless transformation of energy and the fluidity of life. The Sagittarius symbol on the chest points to a seeking, a reaching toward a higher purpose, while the triangle inside the circle above the head speaks to the pure manifestation of the sacred. The halo of stars carries an angelic guidance without needing wings to do it. The white flowers at the water's edge stand for hope, while the shimmering light on the horizon shows the soul's aim of enlightenment, of reaching the highest consciousness.
